The London News Bureau plays a key role in providing the coverage of international news and in supporting overseas field operations. This is a busy environment covering stories 24/7 and therefore a flexible approach, a sense of humour and an interest in international news are essential.

We are looking for a Scheduling Coordinator for ad hoc freelance work -- including late, weekend and bank holiday shifts – and who can handle the demands of working for NBC News.

In addition to working to a rolling deadline, you will demonstrate good people skills, creative problem-solving, and a sharp eye for detail.

You need to be able to work independently and have a basic understanding of the overall production process. Flexibility will be required to adapt to NBC News high production values.

Main Duties:
  • Manage visa applications process & ensure all teams have proper travel documents
  • Manage travel & hotel & local transport, with an eye to keeping costs efficient
  • Support management on deciding editorial assignments
  • Assist management with staffing schedule for editorial teams (assignment desk, correspondents, producers, interns/researchers) and coordinate with other managers on scheduling (archive, editors, international assignments, training)

Required Skills:
  • Excellent written skills & attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Able to work under tremendous pressure
  • Discretion & maintain confidentiality about assignments
  • Knowledge of international geography
  • Experience working in newsrooms, preferred
  • Experience managing teams, preferred
  • Interest in breaking news
  • Must be able to work flexible hours
