Football legend Franz Beckenbauer has passed away at the age of 78.
Beckenbauer, fondly known as "Der Kaiser," had a storied career, notably with FC Bayern Munich and as the German national team's manager. He was a World Cup winner both as a player and coach and was instrumental in bringing the 2006 World Cup to Germany. Beckenbauer passed away on Sunday, surrounded by his family, with the news being made public on Monday. His passing was confirmed by his family, who requested privacy during this time of mourning.
