On Monday evening, following a match between MKE Ankaragücü and Caykur Rizespor in the Turkish Super Lig, Ankaragücü’s President Faruk Koca assaulted referee Halil Umut Meler. In response, Turkish Football Federation (TFF) President Mehmet Büyükekşi announced the indefinite suspension of all Turkish football leagues. Koca was subsequently arrested and has been taken to Sincan Prison.
