A civil trial stemming from a lawsuit against Donald Trump is expected to begin in New York on Monday.

The case is going forward, after a judge ruled that the former president defrauded banks, insurers, and others for years

The fraud ruling seeks $250 million in penalties and threatens to upend his real estate empire forcing him to give up prized New York properties such as Trump Tower, a Wall Street office building, golf courses and a suburban estate.
