Morocco: 7-Magnitude Earthquake Causes Collapse of Historic Buildings and Warnings for Residents in the Coming Hours

The National Institute of Geophysics in Morocco has reported that a 7-magnitude earthquake on the Richter scale occurred in the early hours of Saturday, with its epicenter located in the Igil commune in the region of Al-Hawz in the central part of the country.

Eyewitnesses have reported the collapse of several buildings in historic areas of some cities, as well as structural damage to other buildings. Among the cities most affected by the earthquake are Marrakech, Casablanca, Agadir, and Rabat. However, there have been no confirmed reports of casualties at this time.

Meanwhile, the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center has warned of the possibility of aftershocks in the coming hours or days.
