Libyan Prime Minister Abdel Hamid Dbeibeh suspended Foreign Minister Najla al-Mangoush after she had a secret meeting with Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen in Rome. The Israeli Foreign Ministry called it a historic meeting, the first between the foreign ministers of Israel and Libya, where they discussed historical ties and potential cooperation. This move prompted protests in Libya, including gunfire at the Foreign Ministry and an attack on the Prime Minister's residence. The House of Representatives scheduled an emergency session to address the issue. It's important to note that Libya doesn't officially recognize Israel, has no diplomatic relations with Israel, and forbids relations with Israel by law.
