Trump Indicted Over 2020 Election
Washington, DC, USA | August 2-3, 2023

Donald Trump has been charged by the Justice Department for his efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.

The charges include conspiracy to defraud the United States government and witness tampering. It’s the third criminal case brought against the former president as he seeks to reclaim the White House.

Federal prosecutors say Donald Trump was “determined to remain in power” in conspiracies that targeted a “bedrock function of the United States federal government: the nation’s process of collecting, counting and certifying the results of the presidential election.” Trump is due in court on Thursday before U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan.

Former US President Donald Trump has been indicted for a third time as federal prosecutors have charged him with conspiring to seize a second term after losing the 2020 election to Joe Biden. The indictment said the former President sought to ‘overturn the legitimate results of the 2020 presidential election by using knowingly false claims of election fraud.’ Trump is expected to appear in person and plead not guilty to the charges at 1600 EDT (2000 GMT) in a federal courthouse in Washington DC.

Eurovision News Events is offering live standup positions in front of the DC federal court.
