RUN OFF ELECTION IN TÜRKIYE
A runoff election for the presidential election is scheduled for May 28. In the previous election on May 14, neither President Erdogan nor opposition leader Kilicdaroglu obtained the necessary majority. Erdogan received 49.5 percent of the votes, while Kilicdaroglu 44.8 percent. To win the highly competitive race, a candidate needs to receive more than 50% of the total votes.
