One Touch Media

he Sudanese are holding their breath after workers in the electricity sector carried out an open strike, which negatively affected the electrical supply, and with it, electricity generation, both water and thermal, declined to about 20%.
The strike comes against the backdrop of the demands of workers in the electricity sector to approve the new salary structure prepared by a committee among them, which decided to raise the salary of the employee in the sector to half a million Sudanese pounds, which is equivalent to nine hundred dollars according to the job grades, so that the strike would be a pressure card on the government to approve the new salary and apply it immediately.

In practice, the Sudanese seemed to complain about the failure of the operations of feeding electricity to the home meters, which led some of them to enter complete darkness, while the Committee for Workers in the Electricity Sector confirmed the expansion of the strike to include, all over the country, and expected that the generation would be reduced Wednesday to zero in the event that the ruling authority in Khartoum did not respond to their demands.

In practice, the designated Sudanese Minister of Energy and Oil issued a decision to relieve the two general managers of the Sudan Electricity Holding Company and the Sudanese Electricity Distribution Company Limited,
The dismissal decision comes after articles by Sudanese writers affiliated with the previous rescue regime
They called for the dismissal of the two directors, as they are the basis of the crisis and the farmers that drive the strike due to their political backgrounds
They stressed that the two men are trying to transfer the political struggle to the electricity sector and incite the silent majority in the street against the current authority.
