The movement of the Sudanese economy has become almost paralyzed after the huge jump in global fuel prices due to the Russian-Ukrainian war. The price of a liter of gasoline and diesel reached more than 400 Sudanese pounds.
Sudan relies on importing fuel and petroleum products, including gasoline and diesel, as it imports petroleum products at an amount of $3 billion
Last year, the government lifted fuel subsidies, as they were paying more than one and a half billion dollars annually.
Sudan's oil production declined after the secession of South Sudan in 2011, from 450,000 barrels per day to 60,000 barrels, prompting that country to import more than 60% of its oil needs.

The rise in fuel prices paralyzed the Sudanese economy, after the transportation tariffs increased by 50% and the prices of other commodities increased.

Most of the traders in the markets stopped selling due to the unprecedented rise in prices following the rise in global fuel prices.
