Portuguese EU Presidency visit of Charles Michel

LISBOA, PORTUGAL

The Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union will begin on 1 January 2021.

RTP, Portuguese Public Media Service, will assume the function of Host Broadcaster for all the events.

The first event with Host coverage will take place on 5 January. The President of the European Council, Charles Michel, will meet with the Portuguese government in Lisbon. The meeting will begin at 15h30 GMT, at CCB (Centro Cultural de Belém), the headquarters for PPUE2021. Charles Michel and the Portuguese Prime Minister, António Costa, will give a joint press conference at 17h05 GMT.
For that day, and for all the events during the month of January, we will be ensuring access to the international signal at the location, on Avenida Da Índia, where the TV Compound will be located, as well as its distribution across the EBU satellite network, and EBU’s digital platform (Newsdirect).

To facilitate the unilateral operations, the Host Broadcaster will make space available at the TV Compound for mobile production units, a fully equipped Stand-Up spot and three partially equipped ones in the Press Centre.
These facilities will be the same for all events which take place during the month of January.

In a second phase, and always dependent on the evolution of the pandemic, we will widen the range of production services to improve conditions for news coverage along with the radio and television broadcasters interested in accompanying the on-site event.

The technical facilities and services mentioned, including satellite signal, will be made available, free of charge and on a first come first served basis.
These services will be made available from 10h00 GMT on 5 January.
The deadline for booking will be 3 January at 12h00 GMT.
