Italy Government Crisis

ROME, ITALY

Italy's deputy prime minister and League leader, Matteo Salvini, has called for snap elections in October. Salvini demanded both chambers of parliament come back from holiday to prove that the current government has no majority. Salvini also stated that he is a candidate for the prime minister and refused the notion of calling in a government of "experts" to resolve the impasse between the current government coalition parties, saying it was up for Italians to “decide again".
