JULIAN ASSANGE
LONDON, UK 05 APRIL 2019

British police have stationed armed officers outside the Ecuadorian Embassy in London after tweets from WikiLeaks quoted what it said were high-level sources saying that Julian Assange could be kicked out of the building within "hours to days."

Assange has been holed up at the embassy since August 2012.

British Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt said on Friday that Assange "was a free man" and could leave "whenever he wanted to."

A senior Ecuadorian official said no decision had been made to expel Assange, who fears extradition to the US after WikiLeaks published thousands of classified military and diplomatic cables.
