The 70th Berlin International Film Festival kicks off on 20 February 2020. The award ceremony takes place on Saturday, 29 February. With the Berlinale 2019, Berlinale Director Dieter Kosslick bid farewell after 18 years as Festival Director. Carlo Chatrian as Artistic Director and Mariette Rissenbeek as Executive Director took office in June.
