Geneva, SWITZERLAND

UN envoy Martin Griffiths confirms Yemen peace talks. Negotiations are due to begin at the UN in Geneva on 6 September. The talks will be a potential breakthrough to resolve a conflict that has claimed over 10000 lives and left millions on the brink of starvation. A joint Saudi and United Arab Emirate coalition has been fighting to win back control of Yemen from Iran-backed Houthi rebels since March 2015. Yemen has widely been described as the world’s greatest humanitarian crisis.
