TRUMP - PUTIN SUMMIT
HELSINKI, FINLAND
16 JULY 2018
The Presidents of Russia and the United States, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, will meet in Helsinki on Monday, 16 July. The meeting will be hosted by the President of Finland, Sauli Niinistö.
The last brief meeting the two leaders had was on the sidelines of an Asia–Pacific summit in November last year. President Trump said on Wednesday that "getting along with Russia and with China and with everybody is a very good thing" and added that he would discuss the war in Syria and the situation in Ukraine with his Russian counterpart. President Putin said on Wednesday that his meeting with US National Security Adviser John Bolton had raised hopes for a full restoration of relations, insisting that Moscow had never sought confrontation. According to the Russian President, the poor state of relations was a result of fierce political confrontation inside the US itself.
The Media Centre at Finlandia Hall, Helsinki will open at 06:00 GMT on Sunday 15 July. It will close at 21:00 GMT on Monday 16 July.
Finnish Broadcasting Company Yle and the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) will cooperate to produce and distribute locally a Host Broadcast signal.
The Finnish Foreign ministry will make available free of charge: unequipped workspaces, unequipped covered standup positions and an SNG parking area at the media centre in Finlandia Hall. Technical access to the HB material, in the HB video format, will be available on request at the workspaces and at the standup positions for a technical access fee (rate card details will be published soon).
