TVN News & Services Agency

Poland will mark the 8th anniversary of the presidential plane crash. Then-President of Poland Lech Kaczyński, his wife Maria, and 94 others – mainly top political and military leaders – died on April 10, 2010, when their plane crashed while trying to land at the Smolensk airport in western Russia. The main commemoration will take place in Warsaw. During the anniversary the newly built monument of the victims of the plane crash will be revealed at the Pilsudskiego Square.

On Saturday the head of a commission investigating the Smolensk crash said that the report showing evidence of an explosion on board the plane would have be presented "soon". A new commission investigating the crash was set up after the Law and Justice party came to power in late 2015. Law and Justice has long challenged an official report issued by the previous Polish government which cited a catalogue of errors on the Polish or Russian side, while excluding the possibility of terrorist attack.
