LAHORE: A blast has taken place to the Punjab Assembly, near a spot where a protest over changes in the drug act was taking place.

According to initial reports, several people have been injured in the blast and shifted to nearby hospitals. Casualties are feared in the explosion.

The wounded are being taken to the hospital and the protesters were dispersed following the blast.

A heavy contingent of police reached the site of the incident. Media representatives were also present at the site of protest when the explosion took place.

A car caught fire and a fire brigade vehicle also reached the site to extinguish the blaze.
