On Thursday members of human rights watchdog the Venice Commission will visit Poland in connection with a new law concerning police and surveillance. The so-called Police Bill was signed by President Andrzej Duda in early February. The legislation gives police greater surveillance powers.

It is the second time in recent months that the commission is visiting Poland. Earlier this year the commisison was analysing recent legislation relating to the Constitutional Tribunal, which led to the to Poland's contitutional crisis.
