Pope Francis will preside over the Jubilee of Mercy for Youths (ages 13-16) at the Vatican Sunday 24 and celebrate the Regina Coeli in St. Peter’s Square.

Tens of thousands are expected to arrive in Rome from Friday April 22. The young people will walk through the Holy Door of Saint Peter’s Basilica on Saturday morning and in the evening a special concert will be held at Rome’s Olympic Stadium (60,000 expected). In his message for the Jubilee of Youth earlier this year, Pope Francis urged young people living in situations of “war, extreme poverty, daily troubles and loneliness” to not lose hope and not be taken in “by the messages of hatred or terror all around us.

• 09.00-16.00 GMT Arrival for confessions in St. Peter’s Square and pilgrimage for groups of youth crossing Holy Door of St. Peter’s Basilica

Saturday 23 April
• 18.00-20.00 GMT Concert at Olympic Stadium in Rome

Sunday 24 April
• 08.00-10.30 GMT St. Peter’s Square: Pope Francis presides over Mass and celebrates Regina Coeli
