Former Reuters TV journalist set to launch media consultancy service

August 2019:  A former Reuters TV journalist is set to launch a new consultancy service aimed at start-up TV channels and digitally-focused newsrooms in emerging and frontier markets.

Glen Felgate sets up TV consultancy service in south-east Asia.
Glen Felgate, who worked as an editor and producer for Reuters TV during the 90s before moving to Asia in 2000, intends to capitalize upon his experience of launching general entertainment TV channels and new media platforms in South East Asia over the past two decades. He also plans to put his journalistic experience to use helping to set up new media newsrooms.

Most recently Felgate has been working in Myanmar assisting a pay TV platform relaunch a digital newsroom while working to put a 24-hour news channel on air. At the same time, the former Reuters staffer is also advising a general entertainment TV Channel in Cambodia on sales, programing and the move to digital.

“There seems to be a demand for more and more multi-platform and multi-channel offerings by new licence holders as well as those looking to launch and relaunch digital entities – especially in Asia and emerging markets,” Felgate says. “With Facebook and others looking like they will be getting more and more into TV, it is important for traditional media to have a presence and following there and on other new media platforms.”

In his latest venture Felgate assisted a traditional pay TV platform to revamp its social media offering increasing audiences fivefold over six months.

“We took our following from one hundred thousand to half a million in just six months with very little publicity and online marketing,” Felgate added. “We achieved our success organically – with high standard content.”

Prior to working on relaunching newsrooms Felgate helped launch TV channels in Cambodia and Myanmar. He is also a part owner in Digital and PR marketing agency QED in Cambodia.
