Following a call-for-tender, Broadcasting Center Europe (BCE) was selected by the HRT for the integration of a file-based production system. Based on a digital archive infrastructure with a Media Asset Management (MAM), it will accelerate program production workflows and upgrade the current linear production system while being compatible with both SD and HD content.

The HRT is a national public service broadcaster, mainly financed by viewer/listener license fees and advertising. It has well exceeded a million radio and television listeners/viewers. The HRT has seven regional radio stations and five regional TV centres. The TV channels are broadcasted both on terrestrial in Croatia and on satellite (Eutelsat 16°) as well as on OTT for worldwide coverage.

The future platform will federate all the users of the production platform in order to simplify the access to content (audio, video and metadata). Through a uniform environment and user-friendly GUI (graphic user interface), the users will have a complete overview of the work orders, see the status of the tasks and concentrate on the final product.

On the technical side it is the complete production and archive system which will be upgraded including the content ingest, its processing, the distribution in and out of the company and the archiving of the audio and video files.

“The evolution to a file-based workflow is paramount for the media market, we are glad to upgrade the HRT infrastructure with state-of-the-art systems, including Grass Valley and Oracle solutions,” says Frederic Fievez, Project Development Manager at BCE.
