ANATEL issues updated spectrum guidelines for the FIFA World Cup in Brazil

ANATEL - the national telecoms regulator in Brazil - has issued some updated guidelines for temporary earth station equipment during the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

In particular, it says two new rules have been approved regarding the temporary use of radio frequencies during the World Cup 2014:

1. The maximum period for authorizations (licenses) related to the World Cup 2014 will be of 120 days, to be granted solely to those applications for use (operations) within the period from February 1st, 2014 through July 31st, 2014.

2. The use of transmitting earth station linked to a satellite without exploitation rights in Brazil (e.g., a foreign satellite) may be authorized for the period from February 1st, 2014 through July 31st, 2014.
