The 25th anniversary of reopening the Brandenburg Gate for the first time since the Berlin Wall is expected to be marked in Berlin on 22nd of December. The-then West German chancellor, Helmut Kohl, walked through the 200-year-old monument and was greeted by the East German Prime Minister Hans Modrow on the other side. The historic ceremony effectively ended the division of East and West Germany.
