Denmark will hold a referendum on December 3rd in which Danes will be asked to change the nation's opt-out on EU Justice and Home Affairs, which covers asylum and immigration into an opt-in model, a vote that has been in the works since March of this year. The referendum is largely meant to ensure Denmark’s continued participation in Europol and calls for the adoption of 22 specific pieces of EU legislation.
The referendum will have no effect on Denmark’s opt-out on 28 other legislative acts, including 18 that fall under the EU’s asylum and immigration policies, an area that Rasmussen’s party Venstre and other right-of-centre parties said was a non-starter.

On December 3. Danes will vote on a "flexible" opt-in approach to EU Justice and Home Affairs (JHA).
Background: Denmark obtained four opt-outs from the Maastricht Treaty following the treaty`s initial rejection in a 1992 referendum. These opt-outs is: the Monetary Union (EMU), Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP), Justice and Home Affairs (JHA) and the Citizenship of the European Union.
With these opt-outs. the Danes accepted the treaty in a second referendum held in 1993. On December 3 the Danes now votes on EU Justice and Home Affairs.
