Cuba will attend the Washington-backed Summit of the Americas for the first time, edging two adversaries closer to a possible joint appearance by Presidents Barack Obama and Raul Castro.

The seventh Summit of the Americas (SOA) will take place in Panama City, April 10-11.
Heads of state from all 35 North, Central and South American nations along with the Carribean are expected to attend, including US President Obama, Argentine President Kirchner, Brazilian Rousseff, President Niento from Mexico, Venezuela’s President Maduro and President Bachelet from Chile.
For the first time since the forum for regional integration was launched in 1994, Cuba has been invited and President Raul Castro is expected to attend, setting up expectations for the first face-to-face meeting between the U.S. and Cuba.

Panama City, Panama, April 9th- 11th, 2015
Leaders will gather in Panama City, Panama on April 10th and 11th for the seventh Summit of the Americas (OAS). The summit brings together leaders from North America, Central America, South America and the Carribbean. For the first time, Cuba will have a presence at the summit with a meeting between Cuban President Raul Castro and U.S. President Barack Obama expected. The meeting will follow announcements by both sides indicating the two countries are moving toward normalizing relations after decades of tension.
