The 4th Euro-African Ministerial Conference on Migration and Development will be held on 27 November 2014 and will be hosted by Italy. It will be preceded by a Senior Officials Meeting on 26 November.

The Rome Conference aims at defining the Rabat Process’ strategic framework for the next three years, through the adoption of a new cooperation programme, outlining the political priorities for 2015-2017 and the modalities for their implementation.

The conference takes place under Italy’s presidency of the Council of the European Union (EU) and will be presided by the Ministers of Foreign and Home Affairs. Senegal will co-chair the meeting as honorary president.

Rome, Italy, 27 November 2014

Italy hosts the IV Euro-African Ministerial Conference on Migration and Development on November 27 in Rome as part of the work it carries out during its six-month European Union presidency term.

58 representatives of some 58 nations will meet to discuss links between migration and development and also how to cooperate on the fight against crimes like human trafficking and illegal immigration. The following day, the EU presidency state will launch the EU-Horn of Africa Migration Root Initiative, also known as the Khartoum Process. Reresentatives of some 40 nations will then meet to discuss new projects aimed at the better management of migration flows.
