Eindhoven, Netherlands , 23 July 2014

The first bodies of the victims of the MH17 air disaster will arrive at Eindhoven airbase at around 14:00 GMT on Wednesday 23 July. This will take place in the presence of their next of kin. Their Majesties King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima, Prime Minister Mark Rutte and Deputy Prime Minister Lodewijk Asscher will also be present, as will representatives of countries whose nationals were among the victims, and other dignitaries.

After the two military aircraft repatriating the victims have landed, a minute of silence will be observed. The bodies of the victims will then be transported to the Korporaal van Oudheusden barracks in Hollandsche Rading in a motorcade with police escort.

Media representatives can register the arrival of the two planes and the departure of the motorcade from a press enclosure at Eindhoven airbase.

Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte says his government aims to have the first bodies of the 298 victims of downed Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 flown to the Netherlands on 23 July.

A plane is ready to bring the first remains to Eindhoven from the Ukrainian government-controlled town of Kharkiv, where they arrived early on Tuesday in a refrigerated train.

Rutte said that the identification of some bodies would be quick, but has warned grieving families that others could take "weeks or even months".
