The Ukrainian crisis, Syria, Iraq and the Israel–Gaza conflict will top this year’s U.N. General Assembly debate sessions.

The agenda will include a high-level Climate Summit. UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has invited several heads of state to the September 23rd summit in New York.

The United States holds the Security Council presidency in September and President Obama will also host a summit meeting of the UN Security Council to focus on the threat posed by foreign terrorist fighters like the ones now taking part in combat in Iraq and Syria.

The meeting of leaders of the 15 council nations will be the first since Obama hosted a council summit on nonproliferation in September 2009.
