News Editor, Washington Investigations - Associated Press

Closing Date: 2nd June 2019

The Associated Press is the essential global news network, delivering fast, unbiased news from every corner of the world to all media platforms and formats. Founded in 1846, AP today is the largest and most trusted source of independent news and information. On any given day more than half the world's population sees news from AP.

The Associated Press seeks an aggressive and innovative news editor to direct its investigative reporting on policy, politics and influence in Washington D.C. Reporting to the Global Investigations Editor, this investigative news editor will draw on a deep well of experience navigating the complexities of Washington coverage to lead a team of investigative reporters who consistently break news and produce distinct, deeply reported investigative stories in all media formats. The successful candidate will also work closely with teams of editors and reporters who cover politics, national security and federal agencies, and will oversee vetting of top-level political candidates and lead efforts to dig into investigative angles on the biggest national political stories of the moment. This news editor will have experience leading ambitious projects that go beyond incremental, “inside baseball” coverage, instead producing coverage that reveals how actions inside the nation’s capital impact people nationwide and around the world. This news editor must have the ability and willingness to work at night and on weekends, as coverage demands, as AP is a 24/7 operation.
