SUMMARY


NATO's Public Diplomacy Division (PDD) plays a key role in explaining the Alliance's strategic and political messages to opinion formers and to the public in general. As NATO's main public interface, PDD works to raise the Alliance's profile with audiences world-wide. PDD also works to promote security cooperation through a variety of programmes in NATO and partner countries and contributes to a continuous process of international security debate and policy creation. The Division also acts as coordinator for most public diplomacy activities undertaken by the Secretary General and other Divisions at NATO Headquarters (HQ), and relevant entities belonging to the NATO structure.


PDD’s Communication Services is responsible for the conception, acquisition, production, management, marketing and distribution of multimedia content related to NATO missions, events, operations, and activities. Through existing and emerging technologies, PDD’s Communication Services is empowering NATO to utilise the web, mobile, and broadcast sectors to impact relevant target audiences. The Section is a two-tiered, digital outreach operation which includes the Communications Technology Centre managing PDD’s communications infrastructure, the NATO website and NATO’s broadcast operations. The Section also includes the content creation, planning and distribution capacity from Editorial Services and its team of Editors, NATOChannel Video Journalists, Project Coordinators and NATO’s social media.


The incumbent, under the overall direction of the Head, Digital Outreach, and the day-to-day supervision of the Head, Communications Technology Centre, is responsible for providing the daily management of the broadcast operations facilities, Broadcast Operations staff and external freelance service suppliers. The incumbent ensures quality and timely support to PDD’s communications infrastructure to include the digital asset management system, TV/radio studios, production / post-production capacity and broadcast events under the responsibility of the Communication Services section. This is a hands-on position and will require the incumbent to execute daily operational duties to support PDD and NATO’s global broadcast requirements including coordinating the audiovisual coverage of public events at NATO HQ and abroad, as well as to perform broadcast engineering functions such as equipment procurement, installation, testing and maintenance to ensure that NATO’s audiovisual capabilities meet the requirements.
