Rome, Italy

Deadline: 1st June 2023

The UN World Food Programme (WFP) has significant plans for growth in brand awareness and broader supporter engagement, as well as an ambitious private sector fundraising strategy to grow engagement and income from individuals. Powerful and engaging story content, captured and distributed in a timely and strategic way, is critical to achieving this ambition.

The consultant will report directly to the Senior Story Producer (Creative, Content and Branding team, Stories and Planning unit) and will travel to the field and capture video and photos to brief, schedule and budget, and plan, develop and deliver final multimedia content as requested.

Final deliverables for each trip will be defined through the year with specific briefs prior to deployment. Responsibilities will likely include:
  • Leading and managing the scoping and identifying strong storylines to tell compelling stories;
  • Traveling to the field to capture high-quality photos (and footage, as required) of beneficiaries and staff, to highlight the overall work of WFP;
  • Providing advice and support to regional bureaus and country offices involved in hosting content missions on suggested storylines and visuals
  • Planning and managing pre-mission briefings and post-mission debrief calls, to align on deliverables and logistics;
  • As required, interviewing and gathering informed consent from interviewees, following WFP consent guidance and forms;
  • Overseeing the development and delivery of case study forms related to beneficiary stories, as required;
  • Delivering photos with full captions and meta data via WFP’s digital asset management system, the Multimedia Hub;
  • Working within the agreed content ingestion protocols and post-production workflows of the WFP Multimedia Hub and independently uploading all photos (and/or video products, as required);
  • Contributing inputs on uploading guidance for photo and video contributors and how to effectively manage this process, as required;
  • If requested, delivering footage (interviews and/or bespoke b-roll packages) with detailed video logs via the Multimedia Hub, as required;
  • Independently developing storyboards, scripting, producing and editing a variety of final video products to brief and tight schedule (as required), to engage target audiences with the work of WFP. Products could include social media edits, b-roll packages and explainer videos.
