Job Vacancy:
Videojournalist - Associated Press

Phoenix, AZ or Los Angeles, CA.

Closing Date: 26th October 2021

The Associated Press seeks a videojournalist with a history of successful television and online video storytelling to join its team in Phoenix, AZ or Los Angeles, CA.

Reporting to the deputy U.S. West news director for video newsgathering, this videojournalist will shoot, write, edit and produce video — including LIVE video — stories for AP’s broadcast, digital and mobile customers and platforms. The successful candidate will conduct interviews, write scripts and edit footage in different styles – including raw cuts and fully produced pieces – to deliver engaging visual journalism, and will on occasion work as a desk producer to cut edits from live video, affiliate contributions and video filed by other AP videojournalists. As a member of a dynamic, round-the-clock operation, this videojournalist will also be expected to pitch, develop and research stories and contribute reporting in other media formats — including text, photos and audio — to help produce a competitive and comprehensive all-formats news report. The successful candidate will use video, graphics and editing techniques to deliver visually engaging journalism, and must be able to travel extensively to cover breaking news, often at short notice. This newsperson must have the ability and willingness to work any shift, including at night and on weekends, or as coverage demands, as AP is a 24/7 operation.
