The ABU Secretariat invites applications for the post of DIRECTOR, ABU PROGRAMMING

The ABU is seeking to recruit a high-calibre media professional as Director ABU Programming. The present Director ABU Programming will complete his contract with the ABU towards the end of 2020. Therefore, the ABU Secretariat is opening a process to recruit for this position and invites suitable candidates to apply.

This is one of the senior positions in the ABU Secretariat, reporting directly to the Secretary-General, and responsible for running all ABU Programming activities.

Below are summaries of the general responsibilities and requirements for the position.

POSITION SUMMARY DIRECTOR, ABU PROGRAMMING

The overall management of the ABU Programming Department.

The planning, management and implementation of activities to assist ABU members in their radio, television and new media activities and in raising the standard of their content development skills.

Liaise with the ABU Programme and Copyright Committees, Programme Bureau and Radio Working Party, and taking action on decisions of the ABU on programming matters.

The preparation of an annual activity plan and budget for the Programming Department to meet the requirements of the ABU Strategic Plan and the ABU Activity Plan.

REQUIREMENTS DIRECTOR, ABU PROGRAMMING

Applications will only be considered from candidates with:
  • A recognised university degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum 15 years’ proven experience in programming (radio, TV and new media) and broadcasting,
  • At least 5 years in a senior management position with a record of significant achievements in creating agile, forward-looking organisations through people leadership and change management.
  • A demonstrated commitment to professional development, training organisation and delivery, best practice and equal opportunity.
  • The applicant should be a citizen of a country within the ABU region, and have experience in organising large events such as conferences, seminars and forums.

Preferred:

Significant experience working overseas or working in a culturally diverse working environment.
A good understanding of convergence and demonstrated experience in multi-platform initiatives.
