United Nations - Geneva, Switzerland - 14 June 2012
Myanmar's pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi will speak at the UN International Labor Organization conference in Geneva on 14 June.
The speech will come a day before the 66-year-old travels on to Oslo, where she will deliver a belated acceptance speech for her 1991 Nobel Peace Prize.
The democracy icon's first trip abroad in more than 20 years will take her also to the UK, where she will adress both houses of Britain's parliament.
Suu Kyi, who spent much of the past 24 years confined to house arrest by the country's former military junta, began applying for her travel documents soon after she was elected to Myanmar's parliament in a landmark April 1st elections.
The vote was seen as a key test of reforms under the new government that came to power last year. The US, European Union, Canada, Japan and Australia moved recently to lift sanctions on Myanmar, which is also referred to as Burma.
