The 21st World Economic Forum on Esat Asia will be held in Bangkok between 30 May and 1 June 2012. Leaders from mainly ASEAN region will attend to the meetings and discuss major evolving geopolitical and geo-economic pillar of the global economy. The meeting will take place in the Shangri-La Hotel in Bangkok. For the first time outside of Burma, Aung San Sukyi, will attend to the conference in Bangkok.

Myanmar opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi will speak at an economic conference next week in Thailand's capital, in her first trip abroad in 24 years.
A senior member of Suu Kyi's National League for Democracy said on Wednesday that she will speak at the World Economic Forum on East Asia, being held May 30-June 1 in Bangkok. Myanmar's reformist President Thein Sein is also scheduled to speak at the forum. Suu Kyi is also planning a later trip to Europe, including a stop in Oslo to deliver her acceptance speech for the Nobel Peace Prize which she won nearly 21 years ago. She was held under house arrest for much of that period.

Bangkok, Thailand - May 30-June 1, 2012
The World Economic Forum on East Asia will be held in Bangkok, Thailand from May 30 - June 1. Myanmar's opposition leader, Aung San Suu Kyi, is due to attend.
Ms Suu Kyi, who has spent much of the past two decades under house arrest as a political prisoner, will travel outside of Myanmar for the first time in 24 years to speak at the forum.
The theme of this years World Economic Forum East Asia meeting is "Shaping the Region's Future through connectivity".
The 10 member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) together form an important strategic and economic region with a combined population of over 600 million, a nominal GDP exceeding US$ 1.8 trillion, and a growth rate for the region expected to exceed 5% in 2012 despite ongoing economic turmoil in the Eurozone and the United States. The ASEAN Economic Community Blueprint has established concrete targets to form a single market and production base by 2015.
