Benedict XVI will make a 3-day visit to Milan to preside over celebrations at the VII World Meeting of Families 01-03 June.
On the opening day of his visit, the Pope will hold a speech in the central Piazza Duomo and then attend a concert in his honour at La Scala, conducted by Daniel Barenboim. The pontiff will also be at the San Siro stadium and preside over an open-air mass in Bresso for the meeting with the faithful attending the World Meeting of Families which runs from Thursday, May 30 to Sunday June 3.
The last official visit by a pope to the business capital of Italy dates back to John Paul II's trip in 1984.

On Friday June 1st Pope Benedict will be in Milan to take part in various events including workshops and meeting with families in occasion of the VII World Meeting of Families in Milan.
Pope Benedict will arrive in Milan on June 1st and meet with families in Piazza Duomo. A concert in the Pope’s honor will be held in the evening at La Scala, where Daniel Barenboim will conduct Beethoven's Ninth symphony.
On the 2nd the Holy Father will be at the Duomo for a Midday Prayer, to be followed by a meeting with candidates for confirmation at San Siro Stadium, and in the evening a trip to the Bresso Airport to meet with the families.
On June 3rd the Pope will preside over an open air Holy Mass at the Aeroporto di Bresso, which will conclude the meeting.
