Paris, France - May 15, 2012
The inauguration ceremony of newly elected French President François Hollande is due to happen at the Elysée Palace in Paris on May 15, 2012.
Socialist Francois Hollande will take office after ousting conservative Nicolas Sarkozy by winning 51.62 percent of the vote in French elections on Sunday May 6.
The ceremony, scheduled to start at 0800 GMT, will be followed by President Francois Hollande laying a wreath at the eternal flame at the Arc de Triomphe at 0945 GMT. Later in the morning the president will pay tribute to Jules Ferry at the Jardin des Tuileries at 1145 GMT followed by a visit to the Curie Institute to pay homage to Marie Curie at around 1230 GMT. Hollande is then scheduled to visit the Hotel de Ville to meet the mayor of Paris, Bernard Delanoe, at 1300 GMT.
Later in the afternoon, President Hollande will travel to Berlin to meet with German Chancellor Angela Merkel. The talks are expected to continue during a working dinner.

Francois Hollande will be sworn in as President of France May 15th. The handover ceremony that will take place at the Elysee Palace in Paris.
After the inauguration Hollande plans to fly to Germany and meet with Chancellor Angela Merkel to discuss the European economic crisis. Hollande defeated Nicolas Sarkozy by over 1 million to win the race for President on May 6.
