The first day of this Council meeting will be devoted to home affairs items.
The Council will look at the state of play on the establishment of a common European asylum system based on a package of legislative proposals aiming at greater harmonisation of national asylum systems and higher levels of protection. Home affairs ministers will try to agree a general approach on a directive on the use of Passenger Name Record (PNR) data for the prevention, detection, investigation and prosecution of terrorist offences and serious crime. The Council is expected to adopt two sets of conclusions on de-radicalisation and disengagement from terrorist activities and on re-admission agreements. Furthermore, the Council is due to approve a roadmap to ensure a coherent EU response to continued migratory pressures.

Meeting of Justice and Home Affairs (JHA)
The Ministers of the Council of Justice and Home Affairs, also known as the JHA Council, deals with the development and implementation of cooperation and common policies in the field of Justice and Home Affairs. This applies in particular to combating crime, judicial cooperation, police cooperation and cooperation on immigration, borders and asylum. The council typically meets once a month and the Member States are represented by their Ministers of Justice and Interior.
