The Olympic Flame Handover Ceremony will be held at the Panathenaic Stadium in Athens on 17 May.
Organised by the Hellenic Olympic Committee (HOC), the Olympic Flame will be lit during the morning of 10 May using the sun's rays at the Temple of Hera in Olympia, in a traditional hour-long ceremony among the historic ruins of the home of the ancient Games.
From the Lighting Ceremony in Olympia, the HOC will take the Olympic Flame on an 8-day relay around Greece before arriving at the Panathenaic Stadium in Athens on 17 May for the official Olympic Flame Handover Ceremony. During an evening hour-long ceremony, the Olympic Flame will be handed over to a London 2012 representative.
Eurovision Special Events can provide production and transmission facilities near the Panathenaic stadium in Athens, including:
- Standup position for Live programme inserts
- Playout (multi-format)
- Connectivity to the Eurovision Global Network

The Hellenic Olympic Committee (HOC) has announced details of the Greek leg of the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay from 10 th –17th May 2012.
On May 17th, the Flame will arrive in the Panathinaiko Stadium in Athens,where it will be handed over to the London 2012 delegation.
INA special events will be operational in Athens (17th May), offering uplink & production facilities for TV broadcasters, including:
- Live Stand-ups (fully manned)
- Tape p/o (multi-format)
- Crewing and edit available upon request
