Tunisia to celebrate the 56th Anniversary of Independence obtained from French colonial rule on 20 March 1956. Tens of thousands of Tunisians are expected to gather to celebrate the day. Tunisians will be marking the day for the second time after the revolution that ousted Bin Ali in January 2011. During the celebrations, a demonstrations will also be held on Avenue Habib Bouguiba, in downtown Tunis. The demonstration was called as a response to the protest last week that called for the adoption of Shariaa law as the main basis of the Tunisian constitution.
The event will also be marked in the UK on March 21st with a reception hosted by the Tunisian Ambassador.
