The leaders of France and Britain have invited Libyan rebels to attend a conference on September 1 in Paris.
The “Friends of Libya” conference will bring together as many as 30 foreign leaders and international organisations and will discuss how the international community can support Libya's new government.
France was the first country to recognize Jibril's government and has been a key supporter of the NATO airstrike campaign against Gadhafi's forces.
A statement from Prime Minister David Cameron's office said the meeting would be an opportunity to set out how "the international community can help (the rebels) on the path to establishing a free, democratic and inclusive Libya. "

Libyan rebel leader talks country's future with Sarkozy
The contact group meeting due on Sept. 1 is very important and the transition authority of Libya needs more aid, both in terms of security and economy, Libyan rebel leader Mahmoud Jibril said Wednesday.
He made the remarks at a joint press conference French President Nicolas Sarkozy in the Elysee Palace.

French President Nicolas Sarkozy announced an international conference on Libya will be held in Paris on September 1, to evaluate the situation following the entry of the rebels in Tripoli.
Along with the 40 members of the so-called "Contact Group", China, Russia and India have also been invited to discuss a road map for the politicial transition and reconstruction of Libya.
