Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan will be visiting Mogadishu, accompanied by the Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu and other officials.
Turkey has launched a massive aid campaign to help efforts to fight hunger in East Africa. A famine has been declared in Somalia after the region experienced the worst drought in over 50 years.
Donations collected by the Turkish Prime Ministry and Religious Affairs Directorate reached US $30 million in a campaign launched to help African countries.
The United Nations Children’s Fund estimates that more than 2 million children are malnourished and in need of lifesaving action in the region.

The Turkish team will be landing at Mogadishu Airport at (estimated) 05h30 GMT on Friday 19th September.

Footage: Live footage of the Turkish Prime Minister’s plane landing. The Turkish PM will exit the plane and walk onto the Red Carpet and be greeted by a Guard of Honour. From there he will be escorted into an armoured vehicle and the convoy will leave.
