IAEA Nuclear Energy Summit

The International Atomic Energy Agency holds a conference on nuclear energy outside Paris on Tuesday, hosted by France.

French President Emmanuel Macron said during the opening plenary session the world needed nuclear power as a "source of progress, prosperity, and independence," pointing to the destabilizing impact of fossil fuels on geopolitics amid current tensions in the Middle East.

Iran on Tuesday launched new attacks at Israel and Gulf Arab countries as it kept up pressure on the Middle East in a war started by Israel and the United States that has sent oil prices surging and stunned global economies.
