BERLIN | GERMANY, 9 JANUARY 2026

The German Weather Service (DWD) has issued a severe weather warning for Friday, forecasting heavy snow, snowdrifts, icy conditions and strong winds across parts of Germany, especially in the north and east. Up to 20 cm of new snow is possible in some areas. Several states have suspended school attendance or closed schools. Authorities urged people to avoid non-essential travel.
