A national day of mourning and an official memorial ceremony for the victims of the deadly barfire in Crans-Montana will be held on Friday (Jan. 9). Originally planned in Crans-Montana, the ceremony was moved to Martigny due snowfall and security concerns. French President Emmanuel Macron and Italian President Sergio Mattarella are expected to attend.

A national day of mourning has been declared in Switzerland for 9 January in honour of the victims of the devastating fire in Crans-Montana which left 40 dead and 115 injured on New Year's day. A memorial service will take place in Martigny, in the Valais region, at 1300 GMT.
