Olympic gymnastics champion Nina Derwael has announced her retirement from top-level sport at the age of 25.

Derwael steps away at the height of her career. Her two gold medals, on the uneven bars and balance beam, at last month’s European Championships in Leipzig were her final competitive performances. Her career saw her win 11 major championship medals, including Olympic gold on the uneven bars at Tokyo 2021.

She will explain her decision at a press conference on Wednesday 16th July in Belgium.
