The trade ministers of the 27 European Union Member States will meet in Brussels for an extraordinary session, with discussions on US trade tariffs and ongoing negotiations with Washington.

US President Donald Trump announced on Saturday that goods imported from the European Union will face a 30% US tariff rate starting 1 August, in letters posted to his social media platform, Truth Social.

The higher-than-expected rate has dealt a blow to the EU’s hopes of deescalation and a trade.

EU ministers in Brussels will now meet in Brussels, on Monday 14th July, and discuss how to tackle the situation.
