MERKEL VISITS RUSSIA, UKRAINE

German Chancellor Angela Merkel will visit Moscow on 20 August to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin, just weeks before she is due to leave office after the 26 September elections in Germany.
The relationship between the two countries has been strained over a series of surveillance scandals, the poisoning of Navalny and the Russian troop build-up on the Ukrainian border.
Merkel will travel to Kyiv on 22 August where she will discuss "bilateral relations, security and current topical issues" with Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky.
