U.S. Returns To Paris Climate Agreement
New York & Washington | 19 February

The United States is back in the Paris climate accord, just 107 days after it left. World leaders say they expect the U.S. to prove its seriousness after four years of being pretty much absent. They are especially anticipating an announcement from the U.S. in coming months on its goal for cutting emissions of heat-trapping gases by 2030.

U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry will join UN Secretary-General António Guterres in celebrating the United States’ reentry into the Paris Agreement during the opening session of the UN Association of the United States of America’s virtual 2021 Global Engagement Summit this Friday.

U.S. President Joe Biden signed an executive order on his first day in office reversing the pullout ordered by his predecessor, President Donald Trump.
